As well as the structure of the hand we need also to consider its styling. Typically, a fairy will have long, slim fingers and possibly some length to the nails, although not too long. If a fairy is not grown up, it will probably suit more child-like hands, which are shorter and less defined in structure. Very young fairies will have podgy babies’ hands with fat palms and fingers and deep wrinkles in between, and knuckles that show as little more than indentations.

Another very important factor in creating hands worthy of fairies is their posing. Frequently seen are definite and perhaps exaggerated bending of the wrists, whether it be forwards backwards or even sideways. The little finger may be curled and separated and objects will be held lightly and with the tips of the fingers.
